Melanie Bella MBA
Chief of New Business & Policy, Cityblock

Ms. Bella has spent her career transforming care for complex and costly populations including in her current role at Cityblock, a care delivery company built for low-income urban populations with complex needs. Before Cityblock, Ms. Bella served as the first Director of the Medicare-Medicaid Coordination Office at CMS. Under her leadership, CMS designed and launched demonstrations across the country to test new delivery and payment models in community and institutional settings. Ms. Bella earned her MBA from Harvard.

Dr. Mate’s scholarly work has focused on health system design, health care quality, strategies for achieving large-scale change, and approaches to improving value. He is a research professor at Weill Cornell Medical College, a Paul & Daisy Soros Fellow, an Aspen Healthcare Innovator, and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. Dr. Mate has published numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and white papers. He received his undergraduate degree from Brown and medical degree from Harvard.

Laura Landro spent the majority of her journalism career at The Wall Street Journal, where she was the Informed Patient columnist and an assistant managing editor until December 2016. She is the author of Survivor: Taking Control of Your Fight Against Cancer (Simon & Schuster) about her own battle with leukemia. Ms. Landro is currently a freelance contributor on health and medicine for WSJ Special Reports, including the Health Matters column for the WSJ Encore retirement section.

Mary Modahl is a marketing executive focused on healthcare and technology.  At American Well, Ms. Modahl leads the company’s health system, health plan, employer, consumer and physician engagement programs.  Her prior experience includes the role of Chief Marketing Officer at QuantiaMD, a physician social network, and SVP Marketing and Government Affairs for Health Dialog, the disease management unit of UK-based Bupa Group. Ms. Modahl earned her degree in economics from Harvard University.

Timothy Peck MD
Co-Founder & CEO, Call9

Dr. Peck left a faculty position at Harvard to co-found Call9, a startup that delivers emergency and palliative care to nursing home patients. A proprietary technology platform connects Call9 physicians to on-site first responders avoiding unnecessary transports to the hospital. Previously a Chief Resident in the ED at Beth Israel Deaconess, Dr. Peck saw first-hand the need to provide real-time emergency care. Call9 was a member of Y Combinator’s Summer 2015 class, and is now going to scale throughout New York and beyond.
